Successful HCV Intervention Symposium held in Dallas, Texas

Held alongside the 55th ASAM Annual Conference, our latest HCV Intervention Symposium, held in Dallas, Texas, welcomed over 30 attendees who learned how to implement and scale up successful interventions to aid in eliminating hepatitis C.

The in-person symposium builds on the learnings from our HCV Intervention toolkit, and features interactive discussions, Q&A sessions with local experts, and practical demonstrations focusing on key interventions such as point-of-care testing, dried blood spot testing, peer support, patient navigation, and case finding. The Dallas event welcomed attendees from various backgrounds, including the local health department, pharmacists, and clinicians.

Thank you to all of our inspiring speakers for sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise:

  • Bobby Harris, Medical Director for Mobile Clinic Services at the Baltimore City Health Department and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases
  • Saira Khaderi, Assistant Professor in the Division of Abdominal Transplant at Baylor College of Medicine
  • Oluwaseun Falade-Nwulia MBBS, MPH, Associate Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
  • Sarah Kattakuzhy, Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland

“We were excited to see hear attendees express their intention to utilise the knowledge gained to enhance HCV care in their respective services,” said INHSU program manager Olivia Dawson. “This includes one attendee, who works with a network of new pharmacists, who shared plans to integrate HCV training into his classes to empower pharmacists to provide HCV treatment effectively. It is stories like this that reflect the symposium’s impact on empowering healthcare professionals to better test and treat HCV.”
